I think thats the problem.
While it is easy and probably warranted to DEMONIZE these people,
Reducing them to parodies will hopefully, expose the absurdness of our fears, and cast light on theirs.
Yes Kem ~ Humour is a powerful weapon. The show-biz side of politics really took off over here with Tony Blair and “spin”. I really don’t care if our leaders have nice hair and teeth and kiss babies etc etc. I wish that all parties had to publish a proper manifesto, with their proposals and also the way those proposals would be financed…and that each manifesto was a legal document, containing no unfounded ’spin’. The choice of leader would be secondary in my requirements…only that he or she seemed strong and principled enough to carry out and fulfill the manifesto.
I know over here that manifesto’s are produced, full of gloss, spin and false promises…result…no-one takes them seriously..preferring to take a look at hairstyles, teeth and domestic show.
No-one in their right minds would choose a financial advisor, based simply on looks, sex-appeal etc…why on earth do ‘we’ choose our politicians that way?
