Indifference

I think the greatest source of danger in this world is indifference. I have always believed that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. The opposite of life is not death, but indifference. The opposite of peace is not war, but indifference to peace and indifference to war. The opposite of culture, the opposite of beauty, the opposite of generosity is indifference. Indifference is the enemy.~Ellie Wiesel

Archbishop of Naples: “Indifference is not an emotion for human beings”~cnn

To “His Eminence”, Cardinal Sepe

With respect “Indifference” by definition is not an emotion at all, but the lack of. Further more, Those who possess such “Indifference” may not be ,Human, at all, at least not by the definition of “Humanity“.

Sincerly,

  1. Wonderful article about a ghastly illness–sweeping the world.

I feel a lot of indifference is the result of shock, cultural or otherwise. Give a human enough shock and/or loss (which shocks, too) and you almost assure their shutting down . . .

  2. Dear Alex, there can be no “SHOCK” when those who’ve shown, and
CONTINUE to enact/ display INDIFFERENCE, AS THEY CONTINUE to purchase and vehemently play the ultra violent games available. Not
to mention their general greeds instilled by corporate baiting.

  3. Hi Kem ~ In the ultra-violent games, death is simply a cyber-dissolve – there is no pain, no mess and no heartbreak. That is the true obscenity of the games – the lie that will enable people to eat lunch…
