With respect “Indifference” by definition is not an emotion at all, but the lack of. Further more, Those who possess such “Indifference” may not be ,Human, at all, at least not by the definition of “Humanity“.

I feel a lot of indifference is the result of shock, cultural or otherwise. Give a human enough shock and/or loss (which shocks, too) and you almost assure their shutting down . . .
