Change in America

At 57 I have been PRIVILEGED to be a WITNESS to a good deal of modern histories’ defining moments. Some these include the 1963 March on Washington, the Lunar Landing, WoodStock, Nixon’s visit to China and the breakup of the U.S.S.R. resulting in the reunification of Germany among others. Each of these represent, NOT only a DEFINING MOMENT in America history, but in the HISTORY of the WORLD. While I’m sure many of you now recognize the nomination of an, African-American, as the Democratic Nominee for the 2008 Presidential Election, As a TRUE Historic moment.

That said, though not my earliest Introduction to American politics the assassination of then, President Kennedy was to serve as the beginning of what Became for me the Recognition of how moments in history can effect change in the world. Though truly an horrific event, it was one felt throughout America in which the entire Nation was to be galvanized in mourning. However in what soon proved to be an underlying current of dissent, One in which Political dissemination became the mainstream norm. From The war in southeast Asia to the RACIAL “RIGHT” for Equality. Once seized upon by the divisions of extremes by those who would seek to alter the landscape of America including it’s population by any means. Whether from the left or right the extremes were to become the new center. Lending themselves to encompassing those of not only like minds, but to those who’s distinction was through the use of CIVILIZED DISSENT to achieve these goals.

Through acts of PANDERING to fears and FRUSTRATIONS of those who’s DREAM, whether for EQUALITY or PEACE, beget some of THE most VIOLENT internal HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES in the recent history of this NATION. Resulting in the loss of more than one of HISTORIES’ PROPONENTS of change. While achieving the GOAL of forcing the issues to the forefront of both the VISUAL and VERBAL consciousness of the American public, these were to postpone the unification of her people as a NATION of AMERICANS first. But, To contribute to declaration of “PROGENY-AMERICAN”.

Now upon the precipice of REAL CHANGE, Will we once again ALLOW the HISTORICAL repetitiveness of the now centered extremes to AGAIN DIVIDE and DERAIL the OPPORTUNITY to become a unified NATION of AMERICANS ?

Having viewed this through a descendant NON-ANGLO but EUROPEAN mind of which has bore witness to a world of change. Can WE the AMERICAN PEOPLE in this “2008 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION” now through recognition of the PROTAGONIST DREAM become a RAINBOW of AMERICANS? Can one whose ANCESTRY is rooted over the DIVIDE accept HIS role as an “AMERICAN” candidate for change?
