Thin air

•September 19, 2012 • 1 Comment

A Harvard University professor on Tuesday unveiled a fourth-century fragment of papyrus she said is the only existing ancient text quoting Jesus explicitly referring to having a wife…BOSTON (AP)

“A statement on a papyrus fragment isn’t proof of anything. It’s nothing more than a statement ‘in thin air’, without substantial context.” ..Jim West, a professor and Baptist pastor in Tennessee !’Wife of Jesus’ reference in Coptic 4th Century script

..Yet  it is this ancient form of “cut & paste scrapbooking” that has provided the basis for the majority of modern Faiths and Beliefs.

One wonders..  or maybe I alone wonder, how those   very bits and pieces left on the editors floor would       have shaped our world, and our view not only of  ourselves but of our own significance.. in it.

What of these faiths which profess to be the truths set to all men?

SHED TEAR- for a SOLDIER. repost

•May 23, 2009 • 16 Comments

It is said that as a NATION at WAR, MEMORIAL DAY has become even more poignant. As new tears, are shed for those who have been lost.

For those of you who knew them I can not propose to tell you how to memorialize them. Other than as a man maybe no more than flesh and blood, Then surely- That which makes flesh and blood a soldier, is no more than a man- and tears.

Without tears a soldier has never been called to fight or die. Without tears a soldier has never lived. Only through the shedding of tears will a soldier live on.

For those of you who now are soldiers- You, must shed tear. Not only for those who have fallen around you, but for those who fell before you, and all those yet to fall. You can not be shamed for shedding tears for those you fell.

The rest of you who maybe, because you did not know him/her personally, find it hard to shed tear for them. It’s simple really, as you look at their name. Remember that they were born of a mother and father just like everyone else. That someone took pride in their first steps and words. As they were children once that they laughed and played. Did they have a favorite toy? Maybe a dog? Remember how they fell off their bike, or tripped and scrapped their knee? How they would wake when the story stopped. They just couldn’t seem to wait to get their first car, and sometimes even their first ticket. You see, you did Know them.

THIS IS NOT a day to DEBATE the MERITS for this WAR !!!

But a day to mourn those who gave their all in this and ALL WARS! To SHED TEAR- for a SOLDIER.

For those, whose time I Share. Welcome Home Brothers .

Histories Judgements.. Mr. Bush

•January 20, 2009 • 1 Comment

The inevitability of history, is that it will not Judge you kindly- nor will it soften you erasure… More likely it will chisel out all but your existence, relegating you to but a ,footnote*, in the record of men.

History’s judgments may provide but a measure of kindness, Only in such that it obscures men’s darknesses- eventually leaving no witness… nor victim… to testify.~Kem Shahol

“Global Greed, the impedance to Peace “

Greed denotes desire to acquire wealth or possessions beyond the needs of the individual, especially when this accumulation of possession denies others legitimate needs or access to those or other resources.~Wikipedia

Watching the current GLOBAL ECONOMIC crisis unfold on the news and in the papers, it seems everywhere someone has a story as to the effect it has had on them. Yet perusing these stories and opinions, it becomes clear that between the descriptive deceptive lines, seems few really understand the basis for this crisis. Greed…. whether corporate or governmental or even personal the underlying factor remains greed.

Beyond seeking to place blame in those personalties whom have managed our their interest, our leaders, our bankers, our corporate institutions. We are all faced with recognition that we live in a world where someone’s worth is measured only by one of two factors their ability to amass personal material wealth beyond necessity or their ability to produce said wealth for others..

The secret of success is to realize that the crisis on our planet is much larger than just deciding what to do with your own life, and if the system under which we live the structure of western civilization begins to collapse because of our selfishness and greed, then it will make no difference whether you have $1 million dollars when the crash comes or just $1.00. The only work that will ultimately bring any good to any of us is the work of contributing to the healing of the world.~Marianne Williamson

The above quote is symptomatic of a moral and spiritual disease affecting infecting the GLOBAL SOCIETY,

Greed is a form of pollution and is a transgression of spiritual and moral law. Disappointment is certain if some act is done merely out of greed. Excessive greed blinds the mind. Do not be disillusioned by wants.~Rajan Zed

‘three gates to self-destructive hell’ — greed, anger, and desire. “Abandon these three. A person freed from these three gates of darkness, seeks what is best and attains life’s highest goal.”~The Bhagavad Gītā

Furthermore it is GREED which binds us to the socio economic provisioning of/for class creation. Allowing corrupt governments and corporations to enjoy excess on the backs of the most impoverished of citizenry. As the ENGINE that both drives and stifles innovation, Metering possibilities and progress against PROFITABILITY! Manipulating the so-called FREE-MARKET’S, Targeting consumptions, That STRIP and HORDE resource…. Creating and enforcing the artificial inflations, that continue to promote SOCIO-ECONOMIC SUBJUGATION…..Forcing dissent and contributing directly to REGIONAL and STATE CONFLICTS around the GLOBE and impeding peace.

Poverty is the single inclusive of all discriminations, be it racial, theological, gender, and/or even geographical!~Kem Shahol

The recent economic turmoil has served to highlight the fragility of comfort and define necessity , to shed light on a broken system….where wealth has become RELIGION….where the aisle of exchange once ejected, have become the TEMPLE… where more has become a HYMN…. where the reward has become backed by our TRUST in “IDOLATRY”.

Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greedMahatma Gandhi ~

Poverty wants much; but avarice, everything”~ Publilius Syrus

The lust of avarice as so totally seized upon mankind that their wealth seems rather to possess them than they possess their wealth.–Pliny the Elder (23-79 A. D.)

It is a tragic mix-up when the United States spends $500,000 for every enemy soldier killed, and only $53 annually on the victims of poverty.”~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

The hopes of the Republic cannot forever tolerate either undeserved poverty or self-serving wealth.”~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

“Removing Race From the Equation “

United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination,

the term “racial discrimination” shall mean any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, on an equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other field of public life.[1]

Racism is undoubtedly considered by some to be the most taboo of subjects, By others it is the focal that defines and explains both successes and failures.Regardless it is an ADHERENCE to PRECEPT which plagues society, lending itself to the creation of, and as a CULTURAL PHENOMENON MANIFEST in western society by a SUDO-TRIBALISM promoting NEO-THEOLOGIES, furthering not only SOCIETAL but SELF DISCRIMINATION and EXPLOITATION…

The previous post  Change in America!(Can we?) though having received few comments, has supplied me with a seemingly never ending chain of emails, the majority of which has garnered me a great deal of support from both sides of the divide, While many others offered such enlightening comments, the basis of which was to suggest my ignorance in the matter of race, (obviously they have not read many of my other post) Yet it has been, the recent nomination of Democratic 2008 Presidential hopeful Barack Obama that has forced RACISM in the U.S. to the forefront of both RHETORIC and DEBATE. Interestingly it was during the period that Mr. Obama sought the nomination of his chosen party that it became necessary for him to address the most disconcerting of charges ,Is he “BLACK ENOUGH?” Can he who is of DIRECT descent accurately represent the descendant AFRO-AMERICAN population? But what of QUALIFICATION and MERIT? Race once removed from the equation only leaves qualification…

The above example serves serves as a microcosm of our attitudes and ignorance, but also our progression….

Like every form of determinism, racism invalidates the specific attribute which distinguishes man from all other living species: his rational faculty.~ Ayn Rand

“Creating Forward Motion”

Arguably, recognizing the need for action is the most important factor in the process of creating a Path Toward Peace….Unfortunately once beyond this ,recognition, there is little to even no consensus as to the direction that such a path should take.

In that let me offer such direction, “Forward”…., though seemingly
simplistic in it’s nature it is the only relevant and realistic choice.
Further more it is the only possibility lending itself to achievement.

I am not advocating an abandonment of lessens past, simply pursuit with the knowledge gleaned… An understanding and application, that though certainly possessing the ability for sidestepping and/or retreat, Man whether by design, evolution or a mixture of both is an amalgamation consisting mainly of forward moving adaptations, legs, feet, arms, hands, eyes and mouth!

Since the dawn of recognition, man has searched for his way “back”, whether to the Creator and Heaven, or to the auroral pool of spirit. But~ think about this for a moment, “That which bars our way, is not behind us… , that both infant and prophet step forward with arms open.”

How can any of us provide such motion?

Play to who you are. Are you a writer? Then Write.. Are you a builder? Then Build.. Are you a singer? Then Sing.. Are you a teacher? Then Teach… For those who may not know their strengths… Then strive to read.., or to Shelter…, or to Hum.., always strive to Learn!! Moving forward consist of simply taking a first step!!

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”~ Lao Tzu (600 BC-531 BC)

Path Toward Peace ~Prologue

•October 7, 2008 • 5 Comments

A relatively recent introduction through the use of a comment, has given me the opportunity to meet what I consider to be a gifted and talented ,teacher, whose personal life’s journey and understanding of more than his own chosen faith has sought to lend ,edification, to humanities spiraling descent…

It is through invitation that I have chosen to participate in promoting a common goal, of a “Path Toward Peace“. I have chosen to do so through the creation and use of a series of ,mirrored, post.

Step One: Inducing the will to act
Step Two: Eliminating Racism
Step Three: Preventing economic disparity
Step Four: Fostering altruism & philanthropy
Step Five: Eliminating unbridled nationalism
Step Six: Eliminating religious strife
Step Seven: Eliminating the denial of the equality of women & men
Step Eight: Eliminating ignorance & lack of education
Step Nine: Resolving the impediments induced by the multiplicity of languages
Step Ten: Two Wings of Progress
Step Eleven: The Power of a Moral Character

The goal of this ,mirroring, experiment is simply to promote through commonality. It is my hope that others will participate in this by either creating and recreating through the use of ,these, steps their own reflections , or by simply offering their comments.

For me this is an monumental undertaking, one that will take some time and will surely to be shaped my own life’s journey. An ,eclectic, mix of Faith, Spirituality and even Common sense.
